With only a couple of weeks left until Denver’s Safe City Kickoff event at Kepner Middle School on June 1st, we wanted to give everyone a heads up about all the great entertainment we’ll be presenting along with our partners.

Grill, Chill, and Thrill to these Local Artists and Performers!

Cafe Cultura: promoting unity and healing through creative expression; empowering youth to find their voice, reclaim oral and written traditions, and to become leaders in their communities (www.cafecultura.org). Cafe Cultura presents one of Denver’s most popular open mic events for youth the second Friday of every month.

Ayinde Russell: Award winning slam poet, vocalist, and musician Ayinde Russell (www.ayinderussell.com) will present a selection of exciting spoken word performances.

Pastor Age: Spoken word performances from Pastor Adrian Sandoval, the founder of Tha Myx (www.thamix.org).

Grupo Tlaloc Danza Azteca: Pledged to honoring and preserving the traditions of ancient Mexico, Grupo Tlaloc Danza Azteca (www.grupotlaloc.org) will present exciting dance performances designed to educate us about Aztec culture, and to celebrate our city’s diversity.

Boxing and fitness demonstrations by Southwest Denver’s own Topeira Boxing Club.

Safe Summer Kickoff 2013 will also feature Salsa and Peruvian dance performances, Zumba demonstrations, and an appearance by the Lincoln High School ROTC.

Food, Games and Fun With Your Friends and Neighbors.

With all this great entertainment and culture, plus a resource fair where you can find information about neighborhood and city services, this promises to be one of the most exciting and informative summer kickoffs ever!
